Staff Software Engineer

Restaurant Brands International

Director of Engineering, PLK US & C, 2019 — 2024

I joined Restaurant Brands International ($QSR) to transform it’s digital presence from a set of websites and applications managed by vendors into a central internal team of highly talented engineers. We launched 3 apps on 4 different platforms for the Burger King, Popeyes, and Tim Horton’s brands respectively in less than a year.

  • In 2020, I was promoted to Senior Engineering Manager. We launched Roll up the Rim a campaign which put both the Android and iOS apps at #1 in their respective app stores. It is still using the same code base today. We internationalized our application and launched it in the UK and Switzerland. The project was so successful, executive leadership launched a new engineering organization, dedicated to partnering with international franchisors to digitize their business.

  • In 2021, I was promoted to Principal Engineer. I was tasked with evaluating the in-progress development of the point of sale program and instrumenting the hardware at the stores.

  • In 2023, I was promoted to Director of Engineer, Popeyes. Earlier that year executive leadership decided to decentralize the engineer organization to the respective brands.

Before resigning in late 2023, I lead the newly established Popeyes engineering organization through a transitionary period, while working with product to deliver on a new vision for the Popeyes app.


Senior Consultant, 2017 — 2019

Fullstack engineer as part of a legacy transformation team that developed a custom React and C# ASP.NET Core WebAPI solution for PwC. The team was able to completely transform the legacy solution in less than 40 weeks and increase efficiency of core engineering principles:
  • 75% less code (compared to existing solution)
  • ≥ 90% code coverage - less bugs
  • Bi-weekly deployments with less operational overhead
  • Implemented with CQRS and Clean Architecture principles
